The Nigerian Democratic Congress Candidate for the 2027 Presidential Election, Peter Obi, has come under fire over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s spending of the Sallah holidays in Lagos.
Obi had in an exclusive interview on Arise TV on Wednesday faulted Tinubu’s decision to spend the holidays in Lagos.
He claimed that the president, being a Muslim, suppose to use the Sallah holidays as an opportunity to visit the northern part of the country and spend time with the people.
The former Anambra state governor claimed that if elected president, he will rather spend his Sallah holidays in Sokoto or Kano state than in his hometown.
‘The President, who is a Muslim, spends his Sallah in Lagos and he is a Muslim.
‘I will go to Sokoto and spend the Sallah with the Sultan and we will discuss, bring everybody together and discuss or I go to Kano.’ Obi said.
While this had sparked mixed reactions, several netizens however slammed the NDC candidate over the criticism.
