Residents of Onwa community in Ovia-North East Local Government Area of Edo state have apprehended a woman who threw her daughter into a river in the community.
The woman who identified herself as Osayinsere, was seen disposing her five-year-old daughter into a river in Onwa community.
The woman confessed to the act in a viral video posted on X on Tuesday while she was being interrogated by the community residents.
In the video, the woman was asked a series of questions by the residents who caught her in the act.
Osayinsere was asked questions like who instructed her to do it, why did she do it and who introduced her to the person.
The woman expressed that since she gave birth to the child, she has been having frequent miscarriages which drove her into the act.
”I don born am. I wan carry belle follow am again but any belle wey I carry na miscarriage,” she said.
She was asked her who instructed her to do it and she stated that it was a male seer who was located Ewotubu in Benin City.
“Na for Edo I go see seer, na man. The seer dey Benin for Ewotubu. The person wey carry me go na my friend,” she said.
The woman explained that the seer instructed her to dispose the child into a river so that she can conceive again.
“The man say if I no come do the right thing for inside river i no go see pikin born. He say make I put the pikin for inside river make e go. Then I go con see pikin born,” she said.
According to her, the seer told her that if she throws the child into the river, the child would change to a python.
He say if i put the pikin for water, e go turn to python,” she said.
