Tragedy struck on Tuesday as a young Nigerian Islamic scholar, Dr. Abdur Rasheed Abdul Jabar Salman Buwaeb was reported to have died at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC), Ife, Osun State.
The news of the death of Buwaeb has created shock among many Muslims especially those in Osun South West Nigeria.
He had served as a member of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s Ulamah Team for Hajj 2022 and 2023.
According to another scholar, Dr. Sirajudeen Al-Asrau, Buwaeb “returned to Allah early morning of Tuesday at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC), Ife, Osun State, after a brief illness.”
In his statement, he said, “On behalf of the entire Muslim community in Iwoland, we announce the death of our scholar, Dr. Abdur-Rasheed Buwaeb, who returned to Allah this morning, Tuesday, July 2.
“Solatul Janaza will be held today (Tuesday) at Islahudeen Arabic School at Oyoode, Iwo in sha Allah. Time is 4pm. We urge all Muslims to endeavor to attend as way of honouring our departed scholar. May Allah forgive and grant him aljanah firdaus.”
