The Rivers State Police on Sunday said it has launched an investigation into the attacks on the Sola Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Goodluck Iheanacho by his aides.
NPO Reported earlier that Iheanacho was seen in a viral video being attacked by some individuals whose faces were not shown.
In the video, the Sola Administrator could be seen being forced to sign a resignation letter for himself.
The development is seen as part of the ongoing crisis in the politics of the state.
The state command of the police, while reacting on Sunday, said the commissioner of police is angered by the video describing it as “heinous”
Saying it was a conspiracy, violent attack and stealing, the command said the whole development was “a condemnable act.”
The command said it was aware that a group of hoodlums numbering about thirty, led by Mr Hector Ekakita, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and the Chief of Staff (COS) to the sole administrator respectively stormed the Council Secretariat and attack him
“During the attack, the hoodlums assaulted the Sole Administrator, stole his mobile phones, forced him to sign a letter purporting his resignation, carted away vital documents, including official and personal documents from his office. The Administrator is currently undergoing medical treatment due to the injuries sustained during the violent attack. He is in stable condition,” the command said in a statement signed by the PPRO,, SP Grace Iringe-Koko.
