Lagos State Governor,Babajide Sanwo-Olu was at the Glamour Event Center,in Atlanta,United State to present the award to the Nigerian Afrobeats artiste,Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun,popularly known as Wizkid.
Wizkid who was nominated in ten(10) categories for this year’s edition won five (5) of the nominations.
With this development,Wizkid became the most decorated artiste in the history of the Headies Awards after winning five awards in the 2022 edition making his awards to be fifteen in total.
His awards in the 2022 edition include, Best Collaboration-Wizkid ft Tems(Essence)
Best R ‘n’ B Single- Wizkid ft. Tems (Essence)
Album of the Year-Wizkid ft Tems (Essence)
Album of the Year-,Wizkid(Made in Lagos)
Best Afrobeat Album-Wizkid(Made in Lagos)
While thanking the governor,Wizkid’s manager,Sunday Are said it’s an honour for him to the stage with Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu who presented the award to him.
He thanked the numerous fans of Wizkid for their supports as he promised never to let them down
“I’m just happy. It is a honour for me to actually be on this stage with our governor. All the way from Surulere.
“I started from Surulere, this man right here is from Surulere. Thank you sir.”
Speaking, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to always support entertainment industry in every capacity.
He said,”Lagos state government has a listening ear and we are ready to support the the entertainment industry be it the music or movie industry.
“Our government is ready and willing to support and showcase them for the whole world to see,” he added
Others who won the Headies Awards include, Burna Boy, Olamide, Adekunle Gold amongst others
