Nigerian Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has filed a N100.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
This is coming barely a week after the drama at the Red Chamber where Natasha had protested over seat arrangement, lashing out at the Senate President for changing her seat.
The Kogi lawmaker accused Akpabio of gender discrimination during the heated argument last week Thursday.
NPO earlier reported the vote by members of the Senate referring Natasha to the disciplinary committee over the incident.
Meanwhile, the Kogi state lawmaker had proceeded to the Federal High Court to file the N100 billion defamation lawsuit against the Senate President.
As contained in the lawsuit she shared on her Facebook page on Tuesday, Akpabio’s was personally stated as the first defendant while the Senate President office was made the 2nd defendant.
The Senate President’s media aide, Mfon Patrick, would be included as the third defendant with netizens citing his earlier post on his Facebook page as reason behind the lawsuit.
According to report, Patrick had in the post, titled “Is the Local Content Committee of the Senate Natasha’s Birthright?” suggested that Akpoti-Uduaghan believed being a lawmaker was only about “pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the chambers.”
Reacting, Natasha’s lawyer, Victor Giwa, described the statement as defamatory and damaging to her reputation.
The senator is seeking ₦1.3 billion in total – ₦100 billion in general damages and ₦300 million in litigation costs – along with a court order restraining further defamatory remarks against her.
