Human Rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has on Thursday led protesting members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in demand for the release of the it imprisoned leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The protesters had in the early hours of Thursday stormed the Aba market in Abia state with Sowore and Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, leading the charge alongside other activists.
Videos shared on X showed the protesters rendering solidarity chants for Kanu while waving flags the United States, Israel, and the IPOB.
Recall that the November 20, 2025 Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment, bringing an end to his ten years trial.
NPO Reported that the IPOB bagged the life sentence following his conviction on the seven-count terrorism charge filed against him.
In his ruling, Justice James Omotosho maintained that Kanu had since the commencement of his trial in 2015 showed no remorse for his action.
Meanwhile, the ruling had since sparked controversies with calls for the reversal of the judgement.
