A petrol tanker which was discharging its fuel at a filling station caught fire on Thursday in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Eye witnesses said the fire started when some of the fuel station officials noticed. a spark near the point of discharge.
There was panic at the filling station, Mainland Oil at Kubwa area of the FCT as there were fears the fire might spread.
Confirming the development, Josephine Adeeh, spokeswoman of the FCT Command of the police said the matter was brought under control with the quick arrival of fire men.
” While no fatalities were recorded, preliminary investigation revealed that a tanker discharging fuel actually caught fire, but with the combined effort of the police operatives, fire service personnel, and members of the public, the fire was extinguished even though the tanker got burned completely,” she said
She added that the cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
