A 13-year-old boy has died, while three others were hospitalised under police guard after an alleged stolen vehicle they were travelling in crashed north of Sydney, Australia, in the early hours of Monday.
According to police, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a field about 110 kilometres north of Sydney at approximately 3:00 a.m. local time.
Emergency responders treated the 13-year-old at the scene, but he could not be revived and was pronounced dead.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital with leg injuries.
Police said two other occupants fled the scene before officers arrived.
Following investigations, an 18-year-old and another 14-year-old, believed to have been travelling in the vehicle, were later arrested and taken to hospital under police guard.
Authorities said the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from a nearby town either late Sunday night or in the early hours of Monday.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward as investigations continue.
