Tension is building up in Kano State as the police command on Saturday vowed to enforce an order stopping Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf from reinstating deposed Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Sanusi was returned to office on Friday after a reappointment letter was issued to him by the Governor.
This followed Thursday’s repeal of the law that created six new emirates under the administration of former Governor Umaru Ganduje.
The repeal of the law had empowered Governor Yusuf to remove the emirs ordering them to hand over all Emirate properties in their possession.
But a court presided over by Justice Liman had ordered a stoppage of the reinstatement of Sanusi by the government.
“The state commissioner of Police, Muhammed Gumel while speaking at a press briefing, vowed to deal with anyone who attempts to harass the Emirs heading the five emirates.
The police boss also disclosed that they have not received any order from the state governor ordering the arrest of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. He said they only saw it on social media.
The development has caused uncertainties in the state with fears of possible violence.
