There is tension in Osun State as members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the opposition All Progressive Congress face off on Monday as loyalists of the later seek to take over council secretariats in the state.
This was sequel to a directive by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, who told the chairmen and councillors earlier sacked by the court in 2023 that they should go and resume on the premise of a Court of Appeal ruling which said the chairmen and councilors were validly elected in a “Yes” and “No” election in 2022.
As early as 7 am on Monday, members of the PDP had arrived at many of the council secretariats to prevent any incursions of the APC sacked chairmen and councilors.
NPO Reports situations in Ayedure, Odo Otin, Iwo, Ila, Atakumosa West and a few others were degenerating and were moving towards violence in the communities.
In Ile Ogbo, the headquarters of Ayedire Local Government, loyalists of both parties were seen shouting on one another with shouts of “ole, Ole (thief) renting the air.
