A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Senator Walid Jibril has said that the current hierarchical arrangement of PDP is the greatest injustice in the party.
Jibril agreed that Northerners currently occupy powerful leadership positions in the platform.
The PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman made the admission on Channels Television, Sunday Politics.
“To tell the truth, it will not be fair for the president of Nigeria to bed from the north, the chairman and the BoT chairman from the north.
“As a BoT Chairman,my tenure is Five years constitutionally and I have spent four and half years already, I only have six months left. I will sacrifice anything for the party to remain united.
“Our current chairman of the party is only on appointment status and not elected yet and it’s from the North. Whether he likes it or not,he will have to leave,” he added
Jibril further confirmed that efforts were in motion to resolve the issue causing disaffection among stalwarts and members.
The elder stateman of PDP said the report would be ready soon, adding that the leading opposition will be frank about the matter.
“Whatever we can do, we will do it in the interest of the party to make the party remain as PDP.”
Jubril, a former Senator, presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, and the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu are from the North.
Chieftains of the party, especially in the South, want this adjusted. The likes of Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, Chief Olabode George and others are demanding that a Southerner should replace Ayu.
