The All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2026 Osun Governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu days after being defeated at the poll.
Oyebamiji visited the president at the State House on Friday for a closed-door meeting.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the Osun APC governorship candidate disclosed that his discussion with Tinubu centred on peaceful conduct of elections across the country.
He harped on the need for Nigerians to embrace peace during electoral process.
‘I met with our father and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. What Baba said was that the most important thing is to run every election with a peaceful mind.
‘It is important for us to know that governent is about people. Since it is about people, it is important we need to be peaceful. And I want to appeal to our people in Osun to be peaceful.’ He said.
However, Oyebamiji accused the supporters of the Accord Party’s candidate and winner of the election, Governor Ademola Adeleke, of violent attacks on his supporters.
He charged Adeleke to call his people to order, warning that violence is detrimental for Osun people.
‘I want to advise the governor that it it important for him to talk to his people.
‘Violence against our people is not too good. He needs to talk to them so that each and everyone of us can be on the same page.’ He said
On the APC’s reaction to the election result, Oyebamiji said the party is still examining the results.
‘For now, the APC is examining the votes. By the time we spread our sheet, we will be able to get we will be able to get back to the public on our own opinion and the decisions we want to take.’ He said.
