Three persons were on Friday confirmed dead while eight others were critically injured in an accident involving a Toyota Corolla car and a Nissan Micra taxi at Ile Ise Paanu, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Confirming the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesman of Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) said the accident occurred at about 7:30 am
He said the incident was as a result of excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the Toyota Corolla.
He added that the driver of the Corolla marked LND 618 FQ lost control and rammed into the Nissan Micra taxi with registration number AKM 590 YQ.
“According to eyewitness, the driver of the Corolla car, due to excessive speed, lost control while on motion and rammed into the Micra taxi from the back while passengers in the taxi were alighting from it,” he said.
Akinbiyi explained that 11 people were involved in the accident comprising four males and seven females, adding that eight people were injured while three died.

The TRACE spokesman said both the injured and the deceased were taken to General Hospital, Ijaiye and Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, respectively.
While commiserating with the family of the deceased, Akinbiyi urged motorists to avoid speeding, especially now that visibility is very poor.
