A member of the Senate representing Anambra South senatorial district Ifeanyi Uba, has said that the President elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has no business interfering with who becomes the next president of the Senate.
Uba said though Tinubu could show concerns with who to work with in the 10th Assembly, he queried the manner in which he came in to back a candidate from the South-South zone of the country.
NPO Reported earlier that the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress on Monday said it has zoned the senate presidency to the South-South.
With the development, there are no hopes of the South-East of the country getting any of the key positions in the Executive, Judiciary and the Legislature.
Uba said the decision by the APC to take the senate presidency to the South-South is an indication that the region does not matter in the scheme of things in the country.
Uba, who was speaking on Channels Television programme on Monday , said Senator Godswill Akpabio has not met the south east caucus of the National Assembly saying this shows lack of regard for the zone.
“My brother Gov Dave Umahi said he consulted him. And the President elect invited him. The question is has Senator Akpabio consulted the National Assembly South East caucus? “ he demanded
He said Tinubu is a “good gentleman “ who he believes can fix Nigeria. He however frowned at the manner in which the dominant party has handled its choices of officers.
Uba said he remains the only politician who has for four years remained in a party through he was the only elected official throughout the country on the platform of the Young People’s Party.
The Senator secured a reelection during the last election in the state.
“I was the only one elected on the platform of YPP and today we have two House of Representatives and many members of the House of Assembly. That is huge.” Uba said
