Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday as the former Chairman of the Lagos Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Dr. Qosim Akinreti lost his wife.
The news of the death was shared by colleagues of the Voice of Nigeria Head of Digital Media on the platform of the Nigerian Guild of Editors of which he is a member.
As at the time of this report, Akinreti’s associates were said to be at the cemetry where the wife’s remains were to be interred according to Islamic rites.

Akinreti is a well known Nigerian broadcast and online journalist with scholarly bent to his work.
He holds a doctoral degree of Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun state and had taught at the Pan-African university.
A formal family statement was yet to be released as at the time of filing this report. And the exact cause of her death was not yet ascertained at the time of filing this report.
This is coming barely a week after the sudden death of the wife of another prominent journalist and former Editor at ThisDay and former Commissioner for Information in Ogun State, Alhaji Yusuf Olaniyonu.
