The worst has happened as President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran has been killed in the helicopter crash that occurred on Sunday.
Raisi’s helicopter was one of the three in a convoy that downed in a rough terrain due to bad weather.
NPO Reported on Sunday that rescuers were making efforts to locate the spot where the helicopter made a hard landing.
The other two helicopters in the convoy of the late Iranian president had landed successfully at destinations.
For more than 10 hours on Sunday, speculations were rife that the President and others in the helicopter May have been killed when there was no communication with the aircraft.
Also with Raisi was his Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdoullahian and others.
BBC Reports that “the sudden demise of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday has upended the growing speculation over who will eventually replace the 85-year-old Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei whose own health has long been the focus of intense interest.”
