Livestreaming app, Twitch, has temporarily suspended the account of Nigerian content creator and streamer, Odahohwo Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, days after record-breaking livestream session with afrobeat singer, Davido.
NPO Reported that Carter Efe had last week emerged as Africa’s most-followed streamer on Twitch following the viral livestream featuring Davido.
Efe broke the record for the most-watched Twitch livestream in Africa after drawing over 83,000 concurrent viewers during the broadcast.
The milestone also made him the first African streamer to surpass 20,000 subscribers on the platform.
With the achievement, he overtook fellow Nigerian content creator, Adesokan Emmanuel, widely known as Shank Comics, to claim the top spot on the continent.
However, Carter Efe would in a post on his X handle on Monday disclosed the suspension of his account by Twitch.
The livestream app had in a mail forwarded to the content creator announced a global suspension of the account over alleged violation of its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
Twitch urged Carter Efe to comply with its regulations or risk permanent suspension of his account.
The mail read; “Hello carterefe, Twitch is committed to keeping our community safe for everyone, and as a part of that, we require all users to ensure that anything shared on their account abides by Twitch’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
“Based on a review of your activity or content, we have issued a global suspension on your account.
“As a result, your access to Twitch services is temporarily restricted.
“Please be aware that repeated violations may lead to more serious actions on your account, including longer temporary suspensions or permanent suspension.”
The development had however sparked mixed reactions from netizens with some accusing Shank Commics and fellow content creator, Peller, of orchestrating the suspension of Carter Efe’s account while others urged him to move to another livestreaming app.

“I knew this was coming. @twitch has banned @adinross, @ishowspeedsui and others repeatedly I think @2xrakai has been banned 3 times this year. Be really careful because if they permanently ban you on twitch @KickStreaming no send African streamers.” @FolushoxFolarin
