Princess Bridget Adetope Tychus, a renowned humanitarian from Lagos, Nigeria, has been elected as the International Director for Africa at Lions Clubs International. Her appointment, which will span the years 2024 to 2026, was officially announced at the 106th International Convention of Lions Clubs International, held in Melbourne, Australia, from June 21st to 25th, 2024.
This prestigious role marks yet another milestone in Tychus’s career, according to a statement made available to the NPO Reports, “characterized by her deep commitment to service and her significant contributions to Lions Clubs International over the past four decades.”
The statement said Princess Tychus began her journey with Lions Clubs International in 1983, joining the Satellite Central Lioness Club. “Over the years, her dedication to the organization has only deepened. Since 2011, she has been an integral member of the Lagos Ikeja Viva Lamour Lions Club, where she has held numerous leadership roles, including Club President, Council Chairperson, and Nigerian Lions’ Charity Foundation Chairman,” the statement noted
It said that her leadership has also extended to the international stage, where she has served on the Board of Trustees, coordinating the LCIF Campaign Sight First initiative. She also, according to her profile, led Global Action Team initiatives as both Global Service Team Area Leader and Global Membership Team Area Leader. “As a Lions International Certified Instructor (LCIP), Princess Tychus played a crucial role in establishing Nigeria’s first Leadership Institute in 2003-2004, further solidifying her reputation as a transformative leader.
“Princess Tychus’s influence is not confined to her work with Lions Clubs International. She is a seasoned executive with extensive experience across various sectors, including media, government, corporate businesses, and non-profit organizations. Her current role on the Board of Directors at Apex Tech Incorporated involves strategic planning, emerging market penetration, and leadership training and orientation. Her expertise and vision have made a considerable impact, particularly within the oil and gas industry, reinforcing her standing as a leader who drives meaningful change.”
She said to have been recipient of the Club President Award, Best Club Secretary Award, Zone/Region Chairperson Award, International President’s Award, Membership Growth Award, and the 100% District Governor’s Award. “These honours are a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence in every role she undertakes.
“Beyond her professional achievements, Princess Tychus is a lifelong learner, avid reader, and world traveler. She holds the highest honor as a Knight of John Wesley in the Methodist Church of Nigeria, reflecting her deep spiritual commitment and her dedication to serving her community.
“Princess Tychus’s personal life is as rich and fulfilling as her professional one. She and her husband, Sir Adesina Tychus, who is a Past Zone Chair, have been married since December 1977. Together, they have three children, their spouses, and nine grandchildren, all of whom continue to support her in her many endeavors.
