Hundreds of passengers of Virgin Atlantic which originated from London Tuesday night have been diverted to Accra Ghana.
The flight which was originally billed to land at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos at about 5:30am Wednesday, was said to have been diverted to Accra.
NPO Reports source said when the landed in Ghana, they were originally unsure of the reason for landing in Ghana.
The source said it was later a member of the cabin crew informed them that the aircraft needed to refuel before proceeding to Lagos.
However, what the passengers thought would be short stay of just less than one hour went on for more than 4 hours as they are still on tarmac by 10:30am in Accra.
At some point, the source said another official came to inform them that the flight was diverted to Ghana because of thunderstorms shortly before approaching the Lagos airport.
Again, he said another official said the engine of the aircraft needed to be fixed.
