The Dangote Group on Wednesday described as “minor” the fire oubreak that caused panic at its refinery in Lagos.
NPO Reported earlier that a section of the expansive refinery was gutted by fire causing panic among workers who ran up and down for safety.
Spokesman of the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, confirmed the incident but called it minor which had been curtailed.
He said the fire was at the refinery’s effluent treatment plant
“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday, 26th June.
“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,” Chiejina said
Videos from the scene which had gone viral had shown people running for safety with some safety officials dishing out instrutions.
