Nigerian social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan has accused former Big Brother Naija housemate, Josephine Otabor (Phyna), of greed following the death of her sister, Ruth Otabor.
NPO Reported the passing of Ruth, who died on Sunday, weeks after being crushed by a Dangote Cement truck in Auchi, Edo State.
Recall that Ruth, a student of Auchi Polytechnic and mother of two, was on the 13th of August ran over by Dangote cement truck, an incident which left the sister of the BBNaija Season 7 battling for her life with one of her legs already amputated.
While Dangote had promised the victim a comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation, her condition however deteriorated as Phyna disclosed that her sister has not woken up for days and had since been placed on life support.
Her death was confirmed in a statement issued by family on Sunday.
Meanwhile, VeryDarkMan had in the wake of the accident stormed Auchi where he staged a protest against Dangote trucks as they were denied movement.
The activist would last week call out Phyna, accusing her of using and betraying him.
While the BBNaija had publicly apologised to him, VDM had again accused her of greed in the case of her sister.
The social media influencer, in a video shared on X on Tuesday, faulted Phyna’s N1 billion demand from Dangote rather than prioritising her sister’s treatment first.
He also alleged that Phyna never paid her sister a visit to the hospital all through the cause of the incident.
“To Phyna, I will tell you this. Greed was the problem. This girl for dey. Na greed.
“Make it make sense. Phyna sister dey hospital, Phyna no use her eyes see the sister when she brought out that compensation list. You have not seen the girl in the hospital. You never know the condition.
“They only called us, which you told me, that the girl no fit shit again, all her intestine, everything don scatter. So, it was a 50-50 chance from the onset. This girl was living on a 50-50. You con drop list of N1 billion and you never see this girl.
“You no even suppose mention money when you were talking to them. You should pressure them, revive my sister first.
“Then when the girl don wake, you can now say now you place my sister on salary for eternity because na una put her for that condition.
“You give her children scholarship because she for dey cater for her children if she get two legs. It was simple as ABCD. It was not a thing of money.” He said.
Prior to that, VeryDarkMan slammed those who criticised him for revealing that the deceased has two children.
He explained that an earlier disclosure of her motherhood status would have mounted more pressure on Dangote and saved her life.
“This secret wey everybody dey talk say VeryDarkMan leak, why did he go and say Phyna sister have children? Why did he go and say that? Well, the post wey dem take announce say Phyna sister don kpai, dem write am there, ‘mother’.
“On the girl obituary picture, dem go still write am there, friend, sister, mother. That thing wey una dey hide go dey the obituary picture. You no see this life?
“That thing wey una hide would have put more pressure on Dangote when ithey know that this is a mother of two infant children.
“It would have put a lot of pressure on them to make sure say nothing do that girl and make sure say dem stabilise that girl make she no kpai.” VDM said.
As against his initial vow to take action if Ruth dies, the social media influencer has backed down as he maintained that no action will be taken against Dangote.
He however called on the company to ensure such incident do not occur again.
“I’m not coming to Auchi to Create Content; VDM Backs Down from Protest against Dangote over Death of Phyna’s Sister
“I will not be coming to Auchi to create content again. Make una stand down. Dangote can enjoy freely.
“There shall be no consequences for the recklessness of his driver. Dangote enjoy your business. I will not be coming to create content.
“If he happen again another issue wey no relate to Phyna, Dangote and all, maybe I fit come to create awareness and to say no enough is enough of this reckless unlicensed killing by Dangote truck drivers. But for now, we are standing down.” He said.
