Veteran Actor and Producer, Jide Kosoko has spoken up on the controversial issue of sex-for-roles in the Nigerian film industry.
Speaking on a Podcast, The Honest Bunch, the made his stance known on the issue.
According to him, one can not be forced into doing what they do not want to do, hence if offered, such person has the right to decline.
“If somebody introduces anything to you, if you’re not interested, say no but if you want that role by all means.
“All these sex-for-roles thing, forget about it.”
He stated that he knows some ladies that come into the industry with the mindset and determination to indulge in sex-for-roles, to gain fame and prominence.
“I know some ladies that equally come into the industry with the determination and say if I sleep with this and that person, I will get my name.
“I know of some popular actresses, I know of even a magistrate.” He said.
NPO reports that the sex-for-roles scandal in the Nigerian film industry, has been a long-standing issue where actors particularly women, allege that some filmmakers, directors, or producers demand sexual favors in exchange for movie roles.
