The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, has been spotted at an art gallery booth in London days after being rushed to the United Kingdom over illness.
NPO Reported that Edun was on Sunday flown abroad for urgent medical treatment.
While there was no official statement confirming the development and health status of the Finance Minister, top government sources were said to have described Edun’s condition as “very serious.”
He was alleged to have suffered severe paralysis which may prevent him from continuing his role.
In contrast to the allegation, the Minister, in a video shared on X on Wednesday showed no trait of suffering from paralysis as he was spotted at the O’DA Art Gallery booth where he engaged in conversation with the facilitators of an exhibition in the gallery.
Cladded in a brown coat and in his usual cool demeanor, Edun disclosed having few days off.
He however noted that he chose to participate in the exhibition rather than staying alone at home.
“I had a few days off to rest, but I can’t stay alone in the house. So, I come to join in this beautiful exhibition. I understand it’s on just for few days.” He said.
While appraising some of the artworks in the gallery, Edun expressed his delight to see art works done by a artist.
“I’m happy to see Nigerian artist on display, telling a story to the world. It’s a real pleasure to be here and thank you for the work that you are doing.” He said.
The Minister further shared his knowledge of African arts with the exhibitors, stressing on the need for African stories being told by African artists.
Meanwhile, Edun was supposed to lead Nigeria’s delegation for the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual summit.
He was however replaced by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Governor, Olayemi Cardoso.
