A group of South African anti-immigrant activists has called for the return of Nigerians and other migrants back to the their respective countries.
The group under the aegis of Operation Dudula made the call as clash erupted between its members and protesting migrant group at Johannesburg Central Business District on Thursday.
As captured in a couple of video shared on X, the activists had intensified the anti-immigrant campaign as they clashed with the protesting migrant group.
South African Police officers could be seen separating the activists from the migrants.
According to reports, the police were forced to charge tear gas to break the clash between the group.
Meanwhile, one of activists, who was captured in the video charging at the migrants called for the return of the migrants, especially Nigerians.
The activist, identified as Agnes Masuku, accused Nigerian migrants of introducing South African children to drugs while speaking with News Central correspondent at the protest ground.
“Nigerians will you please go back to Nigeria? Zimbabweans will you please go back to Zimbabwe? Maputoans must go to Maputo.
“Our South Africa is Rotten because of Nigerians giving our children drugs. We are sick and tired.” She said.
While no casualties has been reported the course of the clash, the resurgence of the anti-immigrant activists campaign however raised concern over imminent xenophobic attack on migrants in the country.
