Insist Fight Not About PDP But Future of Nigeria’s Democracy
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared the ongoing clash at the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Headquarters in Abuja as fight for the future of Nigeria’s democracy.
Makinde made this known while addressing newsmen at the secretariat on Tuesday.
NPO earlier Reported that the governor had earlier forced his way into the Wadata Plaza alongside his Bauchi state counterpart, Bala Mohammed, and other leaders of the party supporting the newly inaugurated National Chairman of the party, Kabiru Turaki.
Speaking on the clash between the Turaki-led faction and the expelled factional members of the party led by its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, Makinde maintained that the fight is not just about the PDP but also about the future of democracy in Nigeria.
He expressed readiness to stay in Abuja for the next two weeks until the party’s crisis is resolved.
“First and foremost, it is a message of hope, real hope that I want to give to members across the nation and Nigerians.
“This fight is not about PDP. It is about the future of democracy in Nigeria. People should know that it is a case of it will get worse before it gets better.
“If we have to stay here for the next two weeks so that democracy will survive in Nigeria, you will see us here.” The Oyo Governor said.
