The founder and National Chairman of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Sen. Seriake Dickson, has trolled the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with its litigation case as he received the 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Kano governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to his party.
NPO Reported that Obi and Kwankwaso had on Sunday evening joined the NDC following their defection from the ADC.
The duo who had been tipped to contest for the 2027 Presidential candidate together were received at the NDC’s secretariat in Abuja by Seriake and other leaders of the party.
In his address after announcing the registration of Obi and Kwankwaso, Seriake welcomed them to the party which described as the fastest developing party in Nigeria.
The former Bayelsa governor thereafter threw a shade at the ADC as he welcomed the duo to the NDC that does not know status quo ante bellum which was in reference to the Supreme Court’s ruling over the ADC’s leadership crisis.
“I welcome you all to the fastest developing party. I welcome you all to the most stable political party. I welcome you all to a party that has no faction; to a party that has no litigation whatsoever.
“I also want to welcome you all to a party that does not know what is called status quo ante bellum.” He said.
Recall that the Supreme Court had last week nullified the Appeal Court’s ruling which granted the status quo ante bellum ruling in the case between the David Mark-led faction of the ADC and he Nafiu Bala-led faction.
The appellate court’s ruling had seen the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) derecognise the leadership of both factions.
However, with the Supreme Court’s nullification of the ruling, INEC had since reverted its decision and recognised the David Mark leadership of the party.
Meanwhile, the apex court ordered the return of the case to the trial court for resolution.
The development had led to the defection of Obi from the party barely six months after joining.
While coming the former Anambra governor and his Kano counterpart, Seriake described them as one of the biggest political forces in the country.
“I welcome you all to a party of Nigerian women and youths. I welcome you all to a party of dedicated servants of the people that you are.
“Let me assure you, on behalf of our party leadership, that the two of you are one of the biggest political arms in our nation.
“We are grateful in receiving you. And we know what you are bringing on board. The Nigerian people know what you are bringing on board.
“There will be time enough for campaigns. There will be time enough when we unfold the political processes within the party.” He added.
