Nigerian Filmmaker and Actress, Funke Akindele, has vowed to arrest anyone caught recording her new movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa in the cinemas.
She made the warning in a video ahead of the release of her movie into the cinemas.
She appealed to her fans not to be caught using any device whatsoever to record the movie
Acknowledging how much her fans love her, Funke urged her fans to support her by watching the movie the cinemas and promoting the movie online by posting trailers.
“If you go to see my new movie and you bring out your phone or any device you have to film it. Then I won’t be fine. I know you got mad love for me as my fan, I know you respect me so much, I know you want to support me, promote Everybody Loves Jenifa.
“But you filming it is not you supporting me. If you want to support me, get to the cinemas, take pictures by the standees, post my trailers, the teasers of the movie and I’ll be fine because the act you filming it on the screen is piracy.”
She reiterated her stance on piracy, noting that there are sever measures in place to ensure the arrest of anyone caught in the act.
She also lamented how piracy is affecting and killing efforts in movie making.
“We must not encourage piracy, we are taking up serious security measures to arrest anyone that does that.
“I love my fans so much , please don’t be caught doing it. It is affecting us, it’s killing us, it’s affecting the brand.
“We spent a lot of money on that project, right from filming to marketing.
I truly appreciate you all because without God Almighty and you all I won’t be here today.” she said.
