The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has charged political office holders to have a rethink and promote good governance.
As seen in a viral video shared on X, the Vice President expressed concerns over possible upturn of event if bad and corrupt governance persist in the country.
Recounting one of his friend’s wife ordeal in the hands of protesters in Kano, Shettima narrated how she and her driver were attacked by the hoodlums who left behind a thought-provoking message.
“In an incident that happened to my friend. His wife and driver were driving through Kano city and some young men came out and broke the windscreen of the car and told them in Hausa, ‘Bastards! You are enjoying while we are suffering. And those young men did not run away. It was my friend’s wife and driver that scampered away.” He said
Shettima said there is more to leadership while stressing the need for political office holders to ‘wear their thinking cap’.
“Very soon, we will reach that boiling point unless we put on our thinking caps and for the people and the most important yardstick has to do with quality of governance.
“There is more to leadership than primitive accumulation. No matter how much you steal, it is just a number.” The Vice President added.
