Protesters are set troop to the streets of Nigeria on Wednesday as the nation marks another June12 day.
”Ebi m pawao “ meaning “we are hungry “ is theme of a protests being organised in many states of the Federation as part of activities to mark the June 12 election annulment.
The late Chief Moshood Abiola had won the election on June 12 1993 but was denied his mandate.
He later died in mysterious circumstances in the hands of his jailers.
June 12 has been officially designated as a public day and a day to mark democracy.
It was gathered that many activists have concluded plans to use the occasion to register the feelings of Nigerians over the current state of the nation’s economy.
Since the assumption of office by the President Bola Tinubu, cost of living has increased leaving Many in very precarious positions.
Major areas where increases have occurred include electricity bill, cost of fuel and serious food inflation.
One of the activists, Omoyele Sowore had posted on his X handle on Tuesday “Join the nationwide protest against the Tinubu regime tomorrow organised by the @TIBmovement #RevolutionNow”
Those in Lagos Mainland have been asked to gather at the Ikeja bridge on Wednesday.
Other locations include Museum Ground, Ring Road Benin, Ribadu Road, Jimeta in Adamawa, Freedom Park Osogbo, Effurun Roundabout Delta, Zoo Road Kano, and Unity Fountain Abuja, and many others.
