Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has revealed what Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, told him about his Presidential ambition.
This is coming under the heels of rumours and speculations over the possibility of Makinde contesting for the 2027 Presidential election as curtain draws on his eight years reign in Oyo state.
NPO Reported that the Oyo governor had earlier this week, in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, hinted the possibility of contesting as he revealed that he had what it takes for the presidency.
However, Fayose while speaking on the same programme on Friday disclosed his conversation with the governor over the speculations on his Presidential ambition.
The ex-governor of Ekiti state revealed that Makinde him he is not running for Presidency.
He claimed that the Oyo governor ruled out the possibility of being used to compete against a Yoruba man- referencing to President Bola Tinubu.
“Let me say to you. When I saw an advert running on the social media. With all due respect to Governor Makinde, I forwarded it to him and he called me and he said is not running.
“He said he doesn’t know anything about those fliers. And there are some guys flying it. He has not told me otherwise.
“And let me say to you. I will not put words to his mouth. I will rather believe whatever he tells me as a brother. And he told me that he is not going to be the person that will be used against a Yoruba man as President. I stand to be corrected.” Fayose said.
Also speaking on the candidacy of 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Fayose held that no candidate can satisfy Nigerians regardless of their ‘Messiah’ status.
