Pays Homage to Monarch at Palace

The 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reacted to critics who accused him of disrespecting the newly coronated Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abdulrsaheed Ladoja, with his congratulatory message.
Obi had on Friday come under fire over the felicitation message where he addressed the former Oyo state governor as ‘my dear brother’.
Reacting to the backlash in a statement issued on his X handle on Sunday, the ex-Anambra governor, dismissed claims of disrespecting the monarch in his goodwill message.
While Obi had simply described Oba Ladoja as his dear brother in the Friday post, the Labour Party chieftain however claimed to have described him as his elder brother.
He explained that he preferred using the word for those he has tremendous respect for, adding that he also address the Obi of Onitsha, His Royal Majesty Igwe Alfred Achebe, as his elder brother.
Obi reiterated that his words were borne out of untrammeled goodwill and not intended to disrespect the 81-year-old Olubadan of Ibadanland.
