Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka has demanded from the government of President Muhammadu Buhari why it has not proscribed Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association just as it did to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In an interview by Channels Television Sunday night, Soyinka said unending insecurity in Nigeria is compounded by what he called “selective” punishment of those involved in crime.
”Each outrage unfortunately has the opposite effect, whether the outrage is taking place in Benue, Kaduna, in Owo or even here.
“I find it very difficult to accept to be chased out of my own “entitled bush”. Many people either do not know history or do not understand the purpose of history and there’s a different group also who is very selective of history, they know how to misuse history.
“Take for instance when the incursion of the Fulani herdsmen began and Meyetti Allah, their spokesman said in Borno, “we must rule this place and we can take our land back anytime we want.”
