The Joint Action Front on Monday said its protests which started on Monday is an independent one that has nothing to do with the Nigeria Labour Congress.
NPO Reports that protesters had taken residents by surprise when the stormed Ojuelegba, a major location in Lagos Monday morning.
The protests, which Comrade Tunde Aremu, JAF leader said is taking place simultaneously in different parts of the country like Ibadan, Osogbo and other places is against the spreading hunger in the country.
“JAF has a history of independent initiatives and mass actions that dated back to 2012.
In 2012, JAF was the die on the streets on January 3rd Mass Action before the NLC and TUC (Trade Union Congress) declaration for January – 16 action that was repressed by the police on the streets.
“The current action is by JAF and CORE to inspire Nigerians to resist the deepening state of economic hardship!” Aremu told the NPO Reports in an inquiry
The NLC had vowed to stage nationwide protests across Nigeria to call the attention of government and the international community to the acute hunger and worsening state of the Nigerian economy.
The removal of fuel subsidy has precipitated a series of economic woes ranging for disappearing foodstuffs in the market, hiked rents, school fees and hardships in other area of human needs.
