Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, has revealed that late Chairman of Access Holdings and Co-founder of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe left his office before going to the airport to jet out of the country.
Wigwe met his death in the early hours of Saturday in the United States.
He, son and wife were killed in an helicopter crash that killed three others including the Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Abimbola Ogundapo.
Keyamo said Wigwe visited him in his office while on his way out of the country saying it never occurred to him that was would be the last encounter.
He said, “The reported tragic loss of my friend, brother and not-far-away neighbour in Lagos, Herbert Wigwe, the co-founder of Access Bank, the CEO of Access Holdings and the founder of Wigwe University, is very devastating,”
Keyamo said Wigwe and his team were in his office preparatory to the announcement of what he called “something big for the aviation sector.”
“This is surreal and I am lost for words.
May Almighty God comfort his aged parents and sibling (who were also my neighbours in Lagos for many years as a very young lawyer in Anthony Village), his immediate family members, his staff, friends across Nigeria and dependents.” The Aviation Minister prayed
