The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), is set to host its 17th annual media lecture series.
The theme of the lecture: “Surveillance, Safety and the Silencing of Truth” is slated to hold virtually on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM (WAT).
The lecture seeks to examine the growing threats to press freedom and.
The Keynote address will be delivered by the Regional Director for Africa at the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Angela Quintal.
Joining the conversation as panelists are leading media and human rights voices including; Executive Director. ARTICLE 19, Quinn Mckew, Founder, Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), Fisayo Soyombo, and Correspondent, Associated Press, Sonja Smith.
Moderation the session is the former Editor of the BBC/MacArthur Foundation Series, Jimeh Saleh.
The event will be hosted on Zoom, with participation open to journalists, media professionals, civil society actors, and members of the public interested in safeguarding press freedom and democratic values.
