Another shooting incident involving President Donald Trump has attracted global attention as concerns grow over the spate of gun violence in the United States.
NPO Reported that gunfire had on Saturday erupted at the Washington DC Hilton Hotel where the White House Correspondents’ Association were hosting a dinner with Trump, his wife, Melania, and other top US officials in attendance.
The event became chaotic after a suspected gunman ran into the hotel foyer, trying to get past security officers and metal detectors.
The armed suspect, who has been arrested and identified as Cole Allen, was reported to fired rounds of gunshots, sending panic across the hall as guests and officials docked for safety while Trump and his wife were swiftly guarded and ushered out of the room by security operatives.
While Trump and his entourage were safely evacuated from the hall, the incident, which marked the third time the US President will be targeted, had attracted reactions from world leaders.
Reacting in a post shared on his X handle, Indian Prime Minister, condemned the act of violence while expressing relief Trump and other officials were safely rescued.
“Relieved to learn that President Trump, the First Lady and Vice President are safe and unharmed following the recent security incident at a Washington DC hotel.
