Book written by Fela’s wife, Remilekun Anikulapo-Kuti is set to be launched on the 13th of January 2025.
This was announced by her son, Femi Kuti, in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday.
The book, according to the post, documented Remilekun’s life before she met the late Nigerian musical icon, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
As stated in an extract of the book titled “Mrs. Kuti” the book takes readers through the life of Remilekun, one of Fela’s many wives.
“This is an account of my life from the day I was born, before I met Fela, and after he entered it like a comet in 1959” the extract read.
Femi Kuti announced the eventual publication of the book which she wrote many years ago.
“A book my Mother wrote ages ago, she never got to publish is coming out on the 13th of January 2025.” Femi wrote.
The book as described by its publisher, Lola Shoenyin, is a memoir told with poetic candour and a keen eye.
“Our beautiful new book MRS KUTI is out on 13 January 2025.
It’s impossible to read Remilekun Anikulapo-Kuti’s memoir & not feel strong emotions—joy, fear, pity, hope, anger, frustration etc. Told with poetic candour & a keen eye, big moments in 🇳🇬 music history play out in VHS.” She wrote.
