Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, has warned prominent monarch, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Olabomi, over his utterances against the state governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The Aragbiji had, in a recent Press Conference warned Adeleke over the decision of the State Executive Council (SEC) to reinstate the Logua ruling House of Iragbiji kingdom.
Oba Olabomi had allegedly invited discord among the populace with the warning he gave to the governor.
Condemning the monarch’s action in a statement issued on Saturday, Rt. Hon. Olumide Egbedun, held that his warning is a capital offence and dangerous affront against the governor.
The Osun Assembly Speaker stated that the Logua ruling House are not slaves as they are also subjects of the Aragbiji of Iragbiji.
He expressed his disappointment with the monarch, stressing that the decision was more of the SEC than the governor.
He warned that the Aragbiji’s inciting remark may ultimately backfire and bring him into disrepute.
Egbedun held that the monarch is not above the law and remained a subject of the governor.
He, however, commended the SEC for its decision, stressing that it served as a testament to the government’s commitment to justice.
The statement read; “In Ede; the Laminisa ruling House was included and gazettted for the first time close to 20 years ago which threw up the present Timi of Ede Oba Adesola Lawal and hell was not made loose and the Governor of the time was not called names.
“As Aragbiji; we love you Baba. You worked for this State as a public servant and built a good legacy in the Local Government Service when DPM was indeed DPM – Director of Personnel Management. Your goodwill subsists and it must be guided from any untoward extinguishing.
“It is a capital offence and dangerous affront to say you are warning a State Governor for the decision of the State Executive Council which is not limited to only the Governor but instead the cabinet. The SEC is composed of highly cerebral technocrats and career gurus who can hardly make mistakes.
“Their decision is binding and legal that nobody can undermine expect necessary laws willbe invoked. Any dissatisfied party can only approach the court. It is therefore an heresy for Kabiesi to address the press and chastise a State’s Leader.
“Every action naturally attracts equal degree of reaction if not more severely in dimension. The Aragbiji our Father should watch it; may we not create a scar for an innocent lineage ooo.
“The Logua ruling House are not Slaves either; they are still your Subjects as Iragbiji Sons and Daughters and everybody remain subjects of the Governor including the Traditional Institution.
“Embrace Dignity and Conduct Yourself with Regal Grace
“It is utterly absurd to witness someone who ought to embody the highest standards of ethics and integrity, disparaging a leader.
“We recently viewed the press conference featuring the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Olabomi, in which he purportedly issued a warning to our esteemed governor while subtly inciting discord among the populace.
“Given the stature and age of the Aragbiji, one would expect him to exercise restraint and decorum, upholding the dignity of the throne he occupies. Kabiesi Olabomi must recognize that to claim he is “warning” a state governor is, at the very least, a profound affront.
“Should Baba Olabomi find himself in disagreement with the recent white paper or the decisions of the state executive council, wisdom should dictate that he refrained from resorting to media theatrics that reveal his lack of civility.
“When a government establishes a judicial panel to address matters of chieftaincy declarations and subsequent administrations grapple with the recommendations, what transgression has occurred in the latest review?
“The decision fosters justice for an Iragbiji ruling house, Logua family, that has long been marginalized, ensuring their rightful place is restored. What, then, troubles Oba Olabomi? Are the members of the Lagua ruling house not his subjects as well?
“It is both laughable and lamentable that Oba Olabomi fails to distinguish between the actions of the executive cabinet and the governor’s decisions.
“Let it be made clear: Iragbiji is not the sole domain of Oba Rasheed Olabomi, and his position does not bestow upon him superior rights over any other citizen.
“Osun Assembly urges the distinguished elders of our community to counsel Oba Olabomi to act with prudence. His attempts to vilify and incite the public against the governor in response to the executive council’s decision may ultimately backfire, bringing him into disrepute.
“He is not above the law and must remember that he remains a subject of the governor. Should he allow his pride to cloud his judgment, he shall face the consequence.
“Osun State House of Assembly also commend the council’s decision, which stands as a testament to this government’s commitment to justice and its refusal to allow any individual or group to be oppressed.”
