American billionaire and Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, Elon Musk, has announced plan to decommission his SpaceX Dragon spacecraft used by the United States amid ongoing rift between him and the U.S President, Donald Trump.
NPO Reported that Trump who was heavily backed by Musk during his Presidential campaign, had yesterday expressed his disappointment with the Tesla boss over his disagreement with the proposed tax and spending bill.
Musk had in a post on his X handle described the bills as “disgusting abomination.”
Addressing White House Press o Thursday, Trump said he was “very surprised” and “disappointed” with Musk’s criticisms of his centrepiece budget bill.
He hinted possible end to his relationship with Musk who had just recently stepped down from his role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)- a body responsible for the reduction of government’s expenses.
“Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore,” Trump said.
In what had since escalated into wars of words, Musk fired back at the President in a post on his X, stressing that he wouldn’t have won the 2024 election without him.
Musk accused the president of “Such ingratitude”, adding: “Without me, Trump would have lost the election”.
The last development of the feud would be Trump’s response on his Truth Social handle where he declared the removal of Musk’s governmental subsidies and contracts.
“The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!” He wrote.
In reaction, Musk also declared the decommissioning of his SpaceX Dragon spacecraft used by the United States.
“In light of the President’s statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately.” Musk wrote.
