The Rivers State House of Assembly has demanded the submission of the commissioner nominees list and prepared budget of the state by reinstated governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The Martin Amaewhule-led assembly made the demand at their first plenary session held on Thursday after President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of an end to the six-month emergency rule in the state.
Recall that members of the Assembly were also suspended alongside Fubara when Tinubu pronounced emergency rule on Rivers on the 18th of March.
With the President’s lifting of the emergency rule on Wednesday, the Rivers Assembly resumed to their legislative function with their first demand being Fubara’s submission of the list of nominees he selected for the role of Commissioner.
The lawmakers, at the sitting which took place at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Quarters along Aba Road, also requested for Fubara’s planned budget for proper evaluation and assessment before appproval.
However, the governor is yet to resume back to the Government House which was earlier today flooded with residents and supporters awaiting his arrival.
