Lagos NLC Chairperson Funmi Sessi Laments Death of Abiodun Aremu

The Chairperson of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Lagos State Chapter, Funmi Sessi, has lamented the death of popular human rights and pro-democracy activist, Abiodun Aremu.
NPO earlier reported that the activist passed away on Sunday after being reportedly crushed by a hit-and-run driver around Ota area of Ogun state.
Confirming the incident in a text to NPO Reports, Sessi disclosed that Aremu, who was popularly known as Aremson, was hale and hearty before his sudden death.
The Lagos NLC Chairperson said the late activist had hours before the incident sent his usual daily messages to his fellow comrades on his Facebook page.
She said she is yet to get the full details of the incident.

“Aremson was hale and hearty and even sent his usual daily messages round to his fellow Comrades including myself and also on his Facebook page.
“He was Crushed to death by hit-and-run driver around his area in Ota. I am yet to get the full info more than what I put out here.” Sessi wrote.
Tribute had since begun to flow over the death of the activist with a statement issued by fellow activist, Owei Lakemfa, disclosing that he will be buried today in Ogun state.
According to Owei, Aremu will be laid to rest beside his mother at Number 30, Kabiru Fatoye Street, Opposite Alaka Field, Ijako Sugar Bus Stop, Ifo Road, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The late activist was described as an inimitable leader of the working class who developed structures for collaboration and development of the Labour Movement.
These include the Labour, Civil Society Coalition (LASCO) and the Kolagbodi Memorial Foundation.
Aremu also built a movement, the Amilcar Cabral Ideological School (ACIS-M) mainly to conscience the youths, provide them praxis and encourage their development into full revolutionaries that can change the world.
He was also the Secretary of the Nigeria Movement for the Liberation of Western Sahara and, the Nigerian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba.
