The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the screening of aspirants for the party’s 2025 Elective National Convention.
NPO Reported that the convention to hold in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, from the 15th to 16th of November 2025.
Prior to the event, the PDP’s National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) was expected to screen aspirants vying for offices at the national level.
The NCOC had last week inaugurated a 13-man screening committee ahead of the exercise billed to hold on Tuesday 28th of October 2025.
However, the ongoing discord and call for the postponement of the National Convention by factional members of the PDP has again manifested and led to the suspension of the screening exercise.
The suspension of the screening was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the PDP NCOC Chairman, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri.
As announced in the statement shared on the party’s official X handle, Finitiri held that the exercise was postponed due to unforseen circumstances.
The Adamawa State Governor assured that a new date will be communicated soon.
The statement resd; “The National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has put on hold the screening of aspirants for the 2025 Elective National Convention, earlier scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances.
“A new date will be communicated once fixed. The NCOC regrets any inconveniences caused by the postponement.
“All Aspirants and members of our Party should note the foregoing and be guided accordingly.
“The NCOC remains committed to delivering a credible, hitch-free 2025 Elective National Convention on Saturday, 15th to Sunday 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.”
