President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the victory as a clear affirmation of his visionary leadership and commitment to good governance.
This was contained in a statement by the President on Sunday, commending the people of Anambra, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring the peaceful and credible conduct of the governorship election held on Saturday.
NPO Reports that INEC announced Soludo as the winner of the election in all the 21 local government areas of the State.
Soludo won his second term in office with a total of 422,664.
This was from a total registered voters of 2,788,864 and accredited voters of 598,229 in the 21 local councils of the state.
The President noted that Soludo’s victory made him the third governor in Anambra’s political history to secure a second term.
Recalling his visit to Anambra earlier in the year, where he inaugurated key projects executed by the Soludo administration, Tinubu praised the governor’s innovative approach to leadership.
Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance.
Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that indeed knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people, undergirding accountability, transparency and prudent management of people and resources.
I visited Anambra State in May this year, where I inaugurated some projects executed by the Soludo administration. I highlighted the good thinking behind the landmark projects being embarked upon by Mr Solution. That experience is indeed remarkable and will remain indelible in my mind.
I commend Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance in Anambra. Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.
President Tinubu also commended INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for what he described as a credible election, based on reports from observers.
He urged the commission to sustain and improve its standards to further strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process.
“The victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance (APGA) once again demonstrates the vitality of our political system and the fact that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be denied,” Tinubu concluded.
