Former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja, has been knocked over his claim of redefining his roles while in office.
Onoja, who served under embattled former governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, had on Sunday attended the annual Otogbo Carnival.
Reflecting on his experience in a post on his X handle yesterday, Onoja called for the redefining of the state’s entertainment industry just as he redefined both his roles as the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Deputy Governor.
“As a politician, I held two key offices in Kogi for eight years, and I redefined both. Even my toughest critics admit that. Originality remains the truest reward; people always crave what they have never seen before.
“The same lesson applies to our entertainment industry. Stay relevant, keep innovating, and always bring something new to the stage.
“Excellence naturally attracts investment; no one supports a venture that does not deliver.
“My commitment to Kogi’s entertainment scene speaks for itself, with support running into hundreds of millions over the years.
“Quality always draws capital; mediocrity repels it.
“Yesterday’s Otogbo Carnival 2025 reminded me once again that creativity is Kogi’s untapped goldmine, and when we back our talents with excellence, the world will pay attention.” He wrote.
This however failed to resonate with an X user and Kogi indigene, Theo Abu, who questioned Onoja’s claim of redefining his roles.
He accused the former Deputy Governor of failing to build any social amenities in his village all through his eight years in power.
“What did you redefine? You were Chief of Staff to the Governor and then Deputy Governor, and our village was in darkness all through the 8 years you were in power.
“How many hospitals did you build in our village?
“I don’t even want to mention the dilapidated schools and lack of access to clean water for our people. Redefine Una” The X user wrote.
