The Oyo State government has embarked on an inspection of the Lekan Salami ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Convention.
Bayo Lawal, the Oyo Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Venue Sub-committee of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), on Thursday led other officials of the party to inspect the stadium located in Ibadan, the Oyo capital city.
As captured in a post shared on X by the PDP, Lawal could be seen assessing the pitch and stand across the stadium.
NPO Reported that the convention is billed to hold from Saturday 15th of November to Sunday 16th.
However, the convention had over the past weeks caused divides within the party as well as lawsuit seeking its suspension.
While the faction of the PDP led by its National Chairman, Umar Damagum, had maintained that the convention will hold, another faction led by the suspended National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, demanded its suspension.
The Anyanwu-led faction which was backed for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, had called out the party leadership over failure to conduct congress in several state’s across the Southern region.
The faction maintained that the convention would not hold until the congress is held across every southern states, particularly the southeast.
