A team of Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) have sparked public outrage over their assault on a truck driver and vandalisation of his vehicle in Lagos.
The VIO officials, as recorded in a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, had stormed the heavy-duty truck along the road after double-crossing it with their operational vehicle.
They charged towards the vehicle in attempt to drag the driver out.
However, the driver’s resistance appeared to have aggravated the officials who resorted to the vandalisation of the truck.
On of them could be seen hitting the driver’s door with a heavy wood while another officer attempted to pull out the side mirror.
They were joined by their other colleagues who further wrecked more damage on the vehicle.
This had sparked outrage from other motorists stranded on the road over the drama.
Some of the enraged motorists challenged the VIO officials while some charged the truck driver not to get down.
While the cause of the drama is unknown, netizens had also expressed their displeasure over the conduct of the VIO officials.
Some netizens were however of contrary opinion as they suggested that the truck driver might done something terribly wrong to warrant such action from the officers.
