Aikou and Flora have emerged as the first housemates to receive the “The Gambit” twist in Big Brother Naija Season 11, earning them automatic spots in the grand finale but forfeiting their chance to win the show’s ₦160 million grand prize.
The announcement was made during Sunday’s live eviction show after viewers voted to select one male and one female housemate for the special role.
Flora secured the female Gambit position with 29.38 per cent of the votes, while Aikou emerged as the male Gambit after polling 9.10 per cent. Ricky followed with 7.30 per cent, while Abi garnered 6.07 per cent.
By becoming the season’s first Gambit housemates, Aikou and Flora are guaranteed to remain in the Big Brother house until the finale. However, they are no longer eligible to compete for the record ₦160 million cash prize.
Confirming the outcome on its official X handle, the show’s organisers wrote, “Voters have chosen The Gambit. Aikou and Flora are safe until the finale, but there’s one catch… they are no longer in the running for the ₦160 million grand prize.”
The organisers also hinted at upcoming tasks tied to the twist, asking viewers, “What’s your first assignment for The Gambit this week?”
Before the vote, Big Brother had explained that “The Gambit” was a strategic gameplay twist designed to guarantee selected housemates a place in the final while removing them from contention for the grand prize.
“This gameplay is called The Gambit. Should you be selected, you will be gifted longevity in the Big Brother house, guaranteeing you a place in the game until the end of the season.
“However, it comes with one important condition. You will not be competing for the grand prize. You will, however, remain a fully-fledged housemate, and all the rules of the game still apply to you,” Biggie said.
The selection followed a public vote, with Head of House Chimsom Chuka excluded from the process.
