The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has talked down the strike action by the FCT workers and their demand for his removal.
This is coming under the heels of the workers’ protest at the FCT secretariat on Monday with allegation that the Minister sneaked out on them after his convoy was blocked from leaving the complex.
Videos shared on X showed the workers rushing towards the exit gate claimed Wike had used for his getaway amid the protest.
Some of the workers could be rendering chants like ‘Wike is on the run’ and ‘Wike is a thief’.
Reacting to the development while addressing newsmen on Tuesday, Wike accused the workers of blackmail and intimidation.
The Minister, as captured in a clip shared on X, claimed that his administration had always been open to dialogue with the workers, adding that most of their demands have been addressed.
Wike however affirmed that he remains unmoved by the alleged blackmail and intimidation.
“We have always been available for dialogue. Like I told you, they have met with the management. What are the issues? We have tackled them before.
“But they will give this assurance that no problem, nothing will happen. Before you know it, they will go and do a different thing.
“If genuinely they say okay we have seen what is happening, then we will talk.
“But if it is on blackmail, intimidation, I will not agree. If you like go and hire all the civil servants in the whole world to take over Abuja, it is not my business” He said.
