The African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has charged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enable free and fair election while talking down the mass defection of state governors to the ruling party.
Aregbesola held that the winners of the 2027 election will be determined voters and not the number of governors the ruling party has.
The former Osun State Governor made this known in a statement issued on his X handle on Tuesday.
While recounting his address at the public launch of The Loyalist, a memoir written by Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Aregbesola defended his assertion with the 2023 Presidential election results.
He noted that the defeat of the then APC candidate, President Bola Tinubu, in Lagos and low percentage of votes recorded by the ruling part in the southwest and southeast showed that controlling a state does not automatically translate into votes.
According to him, Tinubu and the APC recorded below 55 percent of votes in the southwest and just 5.8 percent votes in the southeast.
He reiterated his call for free and fair election in 2027 as he urged the APC-led administration to allow the people’s choice speak.
